MacKenzie Environmental Education Center (MEEC), located just NE of Poynette, WI, is one of the most diverse environmental education centers in Wisconsin. Enjoy free admission to 250 acres of prairie and forest land; hands-on outdoor experiences, family outings and picnics; live wildlife exhibits; and self guided nature trails, museums, fire tower, and lodge and dormitories.

MEEC is located just 25 miles north of Madison and about an hour from Cameo Rose bed and breakfast. Both places are excellent to enjoy Nature. The MacKenzie Center is operated and managed by the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation (WWF) through a unique partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Friends of the MacKenzie Center.

Wildlife exhibit of live native Wisconsin animals, including bison, bobcat, deer, mountain lions, timber wolves, and many raptors including a bald eagle.

Arboretum with more than 100 species of trees.

Dormitories - 2 dorms can accommodate 80 people total.

Lodge - with commercial kitchen, can accommodate 160 people.

Logging Exhibit - features a 1800's log cabin and sawmill.

Maple syrup exhibit.

Museums - 3 small environmentally-themed museums.

Observation tower to view the grounds and countryside.

Pond for nature study.

Prairies in restoration.

Trails - 5 nature trials that wind through 150 acres of forested land.

Picnic area with pavilion and restrooms.
