SAUK COUNTY WISCONSIN

Sauk County was formed in 1840.  By 1860 Sauk County grew to 19,000.  Wheat farming and the raising of hops prevailed.  The railroad expanded in 1860's and 1870's and created another economic boom.  By 1900, the county population grew to 33,000 and dairy and row crops became the predominant agriculture.  Tourism has aided growth.  Sauk County has many historical places, scenic glacial bluffs and natural beauty.
