The Village of Waunakee is located five miles north of Madison in Dane County, Wisconsin.

HISTORY

Just after the Civil War, the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad expanded its line from Madison to St. Paul and opened the opportunity for shipping farm produce. The Native American name Waunakee describes the location of the Village in a "fair and pleasant valley".

McWatty Park (3.6 acres) - Located on Six Mile Creek in the Central of Waunakee behind the American Legion hall. Features playground area and equipment.

Montondon Park (3.39 acres) - Montondon Park accesses the walking paths of the arboretum that separates the two sides of the Savannah subdivision. Great view of this natural area.

Savannah Park (3.4 acres) - Located in the far southeast corner of Waunakee, offers basketball/tennis sport court, open-air pavilion, picnic tables, playground equipment, roller hockey sport court, 2 sand volleyball courts, a paved walking path and an ice skating rink in the winter.

Scenic Valley Park (2.76 acres) - North Ridge area offers playground equipment, open play areas and landscaping.

Settler's Park (1.5 acres) - Southbridge neighborhood park off of Blueridge Trail with views of the Madison lakes as well as the State Capital.

Tierney Park (12.5 acres) - Located in the southeast corner of Waunakee in the Southbridge neighborhood. Includes a tennis/basketball court, baseball/softball diamond and walking paths.

Village Park (12.1 acres) - Located on the east end of Waunakee's historic downtown area. Historic stone bridges crossing Six Mile Creek.
