WISCONSIN INSTITUTES FOR DISCOVERY - MADISON WI

The Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery results from a private-public partnership between the private and nonprofit Morgridge Institute for Research (dedicated to improving human health by accelerating scientific discovery to patient delivery), the state of Wisconsin, UW-Madison and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.

The building is located along University Avenue at 330 N Orchard Street, Madison WI and it was designed to promote collaboration between scientists, campus researchers and visitors who will use its first floor center, restaurants and interactive science experiences and the stem-cell science demonstrations in teaching labs.

The building space brings together scientists and researchers and professionals from the arts, business, education, humanities, law and social sciences whom will work to promote these state objectives:

1. Foster new approaches to biological and medical programs at the convergence of biotechnology, information technology and nanotechnology;

2. Create the potential for a fundamental transformation of human biology and medicine;

3. Provide cutting edge scientific advances for clinical application and translation in the UW Madison Medical School's new Wisconsin Institutes for Medical Research;

4. Build on the university's Cluster Hiring Initiative by engaging and supporting the more than 100 multi-disciplinary faculty hired as part of that initiative;

5. Establish educational components that will integrate cross-disciplinary science into K-12, undergraduate and graduate education; and

6. Facilitate the invention of technologies that can be transferred to the marketplace and create jobs.
