THE YELLOWSTONE LAKE STATE PARK, ATTRACTIONS, THINGS TO DO, TRAVEL, VACATIONS: Yellowstone Lake State Park is a 455-acre lake and 968-acre state park adjoining 4050 acres of wildlife habitat and cropland near Blanchardville Wisconsin. Yellowstone Lake park is ideal for camping, fishing, hunting, hiking trails and water recreation. Visit the park from Cameo Rose Victorian Country Inn. There are few mosquitoes in the park due to more than 4,000 little brown bats that roost in 31 bat houses throughout the park. In the evening, campers gather around the bat houses to watch the bats fly and hunt. Each bat can catch up to 600 mosquitoes an hour. The lake is shared by boats, canoes, fishermen, kayaks, swimmers and watercraft. Over 400,000 pounds of carp were taken from Yellowstone Lake since 1997, thus crappies and walleye and the game fish populations are flourishing. The lake is now open to fishing with regulations. A flush toilet and shower building excellent accommodations. Miles of snowmobile trails are within the park. The trail connects with the Lafayette County trails to provide hours of riding enjoyment. Cross-Country Skiing on 5 miles of groomed and tracked trails exist. A vehicle admission sticker is needed. Deer hunting is allowed within Yellowstone Lake State Park by special permit. To get to the park from Cameo Rose Victorian Country Inn, head west on U.S. Highway 18/151 to the Mount Horeb State Highway 78 exit and head south to Blanchardville. When you reach Blanchardville, cross the Pecatonica River. At the top of the hill is County Highway F (right hand turn). Take Highway F about 8 miles to Lake Road. There you will see a sign for Yellowstone Lake State Park. Turn left onto Lake Road. The park office is about 1 mile down the road on the right side.
